Senior Database Engineer (Microsoft SQL)

Gorilla Logic is looking for a senior database engineer, who will work with a team of engineers developing our client’s system. This is a unique and highly technical role, requiring strong development experience in delivering leading-edge solutions. Responsibilities

*Design, develop, and maintain database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server

*Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into efficient and scalable database designs.

*Develop complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis.

*Analyze and optimized SQL queries, stored procedures, and database schema to improve performance and minimize resource consumption.

*Monitor database performance, conduct proactive analysis, and optimize query execution plans and indexing strategies.

*Implement and manage Microsoft SQL Server instances, including configuration, monitoring, security, and performance tuning for optimal operation.

*Document database schemas, configurations, procedures, best practices and methodologies for effective knowledge sharing, development, and maintenance.

Technical Requirements

*Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, engineering, or equivalent experience.

*5+ years of experience as a database engineer with expertise in Microsoft SQL Server.

*Strong proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, and database administration.

*Experience developing complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database management tasks.

*Experience in query optimization, performance tuning, and indexing techniques.

*Familiar with .NET/C# to collaborate effectively with front-end developers and incorporate efficient query practices.

*Solid understanding of database design principles, normalization, and relational database concepts.

*Ability to implement indexing strategies and query tuning techniques to optimize query execution plans and eliminate unnecessary database round trips and improve query response time.

*Experience with monitoring tools and techniques to identify and resolve database performance issues.

*Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze query execution plans and identify performance bottlenecks.

*Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Bonus Skills

*Knowledge of cost optimization strategies in Microsoft SQL Server to reduce database related expenses.

*Prior experience with Azure SQL database and other Azure data services
